Celebrating the true meaning of Santa Claus?
As the Christmas season envelops us in a warm and festive atmosphere, the iconic figure of ‘Santa Claus’ takes centrestage. Dressed in red and white, adorned with a big beard and a bag full of gifts, Santa has become synonymous with the spirit of giving and spreading joy, especially among children. However, do we truly understand who Santa Claus is and the deeper significance behind his iconic appearance?
UNVEIL THE SANTA IN YOU
Santa Claus traces his roots back to the early Christian era when the spirit of generosity and kindness embodied by Saint Christopher Claus became legendary. Saint Christopher Claus was known for selflessly giving to those in need within his community. In the spirit of celebrating this generosity, we have adopted the tradition of playing Santa Claus for a day, but perhaps it’s time to reflect on whether confining the act to a single day truly justifies the celebration. The essence of generosity and the joy of giving are not meant to be confined to a specific date on the calendar. Instead, they should be embraced year-round.
The Santa Claus within each of us isn’t limited to a seasonal role but resides in our hearts, urging us to share and bring joy to ourselves and others. Rather than burying this benevolent spirit once the Christmas season concludes, let us strive to keep our inner Santa alive, continuing to spread kindness and generosity throughout the year.
THE RED AND WHITE
Though there are theories that the current image of Santa Claus is the creation of Coca Cola, the distinctive red and white attire holds a deeper symbolic meaning than meets the eye. These colours represent the journey from the gross to the divine, symbolising the spiritual evolution of each individual. Red signifies the beginning of our journey, connecting us to the roots of our existence. As we embark on the path of enlightenment and surrender, we traverse from the red of our earthly origins to the purity and divinity depicted by the colour white.
White, often associated with snow and moonlight during the winter season, serves as a metaphor for the ultimate destination of our spiritual journey. It encapsulates the divine form within us, embracing all colours and beauties. The journey from red to white mirrors the transformation from our earthly roots to a higher state of consciousness, from mere manhood to godliness.
This Christmas, let us celebrate with the true meaning of the festive season. By embracing generosity, kindness, and the joy of giving, we can make every day a celebration of the inherent goodness within ourselves. Santa Claus isn’t just a character to be copied. He symbolises the potential for kindness and generosity that resides in each of us, waiting to be expressed through every act of ours.
