Ghana’s National Lottery Authority issued a licence on Wednesday to Game Park Limited, which will be utilising the proprietary platform owned by Supreme Ventures Limited, SVL, to operate two lottery games in that country.

Executive Director of Game Park Limited, Madam Bibi Bright, announced the granting of the licence via an Instagram post.

The business partnership relating to the Pick 1-Cash Pot and Pick 4 games was first disclosed by SVL in a stock market filing on April 5, and the Jamaican company has set up a local subsidiary, Supreme Ventures Ghana Limited, to facilitate its operations in that market of about 33 million people.

Comparatively, Jamaica has a population of less than three million while the entire Caricom bloc is around 19 million people.

Executive Chairman Gary Peart declined to comment on the expected contribution of the Ghana operations to SVL’s earnings.

Over the next three months SVL will be assisting with the setting up of a studio for lottery draws, vetting personnel to act as hosts and technical staff and assisting with the necessary marketing, said Peart.

Ghana presently has one lottery in operations, offering long odds of five balls in 90. SVL, through Game Park, will be offering shorter odds of six balls in 36.

Peart said that as a technical service provider, SVL will be primarily providing its proprietary lottery software and marketing services to Game Park.

Peart is not ruling out expansion to other countries now that the company’s software has proven its capabilities.

SVL has been providing similar services in Guyana for over two years without issues, he said.

“As the holder of a proprietary lottery software, we are able to provide various lottery/gaming services in any jurisdiction in the world. As such we are willing to partner with local and/or international parties in any country to exploit opportunities,” Peart said.

SVL has been gaming and entertainment provider in Jamaica and the Caribbean since 2001. The company has interests in gaming, lotteries, horse racing, bookmaking and microfinance.
