Forty-five Credit Union Young Professionals converged at the Credit Unions of Jamaica's inaugural Youth Summit, at the Ocean Coral Springs Resort on Thursday, June 1, 2023, under the theme, 'NeXGen Change Makers: Be the Change'.

The event was held as part of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League's Annual Convention.

The Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League (JCCUL) is the national association of Credit Unions.

Credit Union managers selected the Youth Summit participants from members of their staff Island wide, who were all under 40 years old. The Summit's theme, 'NeXGen Change Makers: Be the Change', is a rallying call for young professionals within the Movement to realise their potential as invaluable assets in developing the Credit Union Movement.

The Summit also provided the attendees the opportunity to commit themselves to the engagement and development of youths and share their vision of the Credit Union Movement. Participants were also exposed to professional opportunities that exist locally, regionally and internationally.

The young professionals, dubbed the 'NeXGen Change Makers' will promote and execute projects and programmes geared toward increasing youth involvement within the Movement.

Arising from the Youth Summit will be the development of a young professionals ambassadorship programme that will have wide-reaching effects and a broad membership criterion. Its aim will be to develop its members and to tackle the social, economic and development issues that exist within Jamaica.
