Commission calls for Haitian PM to resign
The 11-member presidential commission established by President Michel Martelly to help deal with Haiti's worsening political crisis is recommending the resignation of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and his government.
It has also recommended that members of the Electoral Council resign.
The Miami Herald said it had obtained a copy of the document which is also calling for the resignation of the head of the Supreme Court.
In addition, the commission also wants several people detained arbitrarily to be released.
According to the US-based publication, the report is calling for a truce by the opposition following weeks of street demonstrations in a bid to force Martelly out of office.
It said the truce is necessary to achieve a political agreement for the country’s long-delayed local and legislative elections to occur.
