The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is condemning recent acts of violence which have marred the ongoing electoral process in Haiti.
The events have contributed to the decision to postpone the second round of the Presidential elections and the elections for the remaining members of the legislature.
CARICOM is calling on all the stakeholders, and in particular the major political actors, to urgently resolve the current political crisis in a calm and peaceful atmosphere by facilitating the negotiations being conducted.
It says it is imperative that voting take place in a secure and peaceful environment that will encourage citizens to carry out their civic duty and exercise their right in large numbers.
