BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Three people are being questioned as the Barbados police launch an investigation into the seizure of approximately BD$3 million worth of illegal drugs found aboard a yacht on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Royal Barbados Police Force’s Drug Squad Unit conducted an operation on board the Barbados registered luxury vessel at the Bridgetown Port around 1 p.m. and the contraband discovered.

“Three crew members are currently assisting police with investigations,” the release said without naming the vessel or identifying those on board.

Local media have reported that two of the three men in custody are known businessmen.

Up to Wednesday morning, no charges had been laid.
