T&T inmate found unresponsive in cell dies in hospital

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The police are reporting that Deodath Mohammed, an inmate at the maximum security prison, died in hospital yesterday.
Mohammed, 59, who was serving an eight-year sentence for rape and malicious wounding, was found unresponsive in his cell yesterday morning.
In a statement, the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service said Mohammed was immediately rushed to the Arima Health Facility, where he was attended to and pronounced dead at 8: 15 am.
His body bore no marks of violence.
Mohammed’s next of kin was contacted by an assigned welfare officer to relay the news of his passing.
