Anti-narcotics agents arrested in Guyana
GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Police in Guyana have arrested two agents of the Guyana Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) after one excreted two diamonds allegedly stolen from a Surinamese man who was in custody.
“The two diamonds photographed were swallowed by Goddard who was taken to the hospital where he excreted them,” police said.
The other agent, Annick Hossanah told investigators that he sold his loot to another man.
Police are yet to arrest the third individual implicated in this matter.
Without providing much details on the alleged theft, in a statement, CANU, said that two of its agents were in police custody because they were alleged to have “stolen items from an individual who was detained during a CANU operation in Berbice.”
The Surinamese, whose name had not been released was detained for alleged illegal possession of a firearm, the police said.
