Antigua declares National Day of Prayer amid rising crime
The Cabinet in Antigua has declared Thursday, September 12 as a day of prayer for the nation.
The Ecclesiastical Commission, a body representing various religious denominations in Antigua and Barbuda, has been tasked with organising the day's events.
This comes as over the past months there has been a marked increase in robberies, assaults, and other violent crimes, prompting calls for both practical and spiritual intervention.
While detailed plans are yet to be announced, it is expected that the programme will include interfaith services, community gatherings, and moments of silent reflection across the islands.
