On this special Teachers’ Day and on behalf of everyone at the Ministry of Education and Youth (MOEY), I encourage all Jamaicans to pause and appreciate the important role that all our educators play in building our nation. Your selfless dedication to shaping the minds of future generations is truly admirable. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to education and for inspiring countless students to reach for their dreams.

You are making a profound difference in the world. You are not just educators but also mentors, role models and caregivers for our children. Your hard work, dedication and passion for teaching have a significant impact on the lives of the students you teach, and the society as a whole.

NOT AN EASY PROFESSION

Teaching is not an easy profession, and especially in these challenging times, you have faced unprecedented difficulties. The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way education is imparted. You, our teachers, have had to adapt to new technologies, methods and challenges in order to ensure that our students continue to learn and grow.

Despite all these challenges, our hard-working teachers have continued to show up every day, driven by their profound sense of duty and care for all students. Many of our teachers have gone above and beyond to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our students, whether it is by checking on their mental health, providing them with academic support or simply being there to listen and offer guidance.

‘THANK YOU’

As a society, we owe all our teachers a debt of gratitude for the selfless work that they do every day. Teachers have not only shaped the minds of our future generations, but they have also instilled in our children values such as empathy, compassion and resilience that are essential for building a better world.

So, on this Teachers’ Day, I say “Thank you”.

Thank you for your hard work and your unwavering commitment to the education and well-being of our children. You are the unsung heroes of our society. We are grateful for all that you do.

Happy Teachers’ Day!
