French week ends with food, film
The French Language and Francophone Week in Kingston ended on a high note on Saturday, March 21, with a food-and-film evening at the Alliance FranÁaise de la JamaÔque, 4 Bradley Avenue, St Andrew.
Other activities held during the week included two film evenings on March 13 and 14; a public lecture at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus on March 19; and a Francophone festival for Schools on Friday, March 20, followed by a theatre evening the same day.
French Language and Francophonie Week was celebrated internationally from March 14 to 22. The French language and diversity of Francophone cultures are celebrated during the period.
In Jamaica, the local organisers were the Alliance FranÁaise de la JamaÔque, with partners the Embassies of Belgium and France, the High Commission of Canada, the University of the West Indies, Shortwood Teachers' College, the Jamaica Association of French Teachers, the France-Jamaica Club, and the Francophile Society of the UWI.
