Wayne Marshall, who has been enjoying new-found success with the release of his hit single, Glory to God, will join the Chamber Ensemble of the Immaculate Conception High School in aid of the Franciscan Ministries for a concert dubbed 'Classical Harmony.'

Marshall, who released his single in May, will join Velia Espeut and Yekengale and Bunny Rose at the Courtleigh Auditorium this Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m.

The Franciscan Ministries is a non-profit organisation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany at Immaculate, who, for the past 20 years, have served the poor and marginalised in inner-city communities across Jamaica. They have funded medical surgeries, critical medical supplies, and housing for the impoverished.

Director of the ministries, Sister Francis Yap, in outlining some of the work of the movement, said, "With the help of volunteers from North America, we are able to provide food, healthcare, shelter for the very poor in the inner-city communities of Whitfield Town, Myrrh Villa, Trench Town, Ferry, Tivoli Gardens, and Braes River."

She noted that overseas medical and dental teams aligned to the Order make multiple trips to Jamaica each year to provide surgeries, medical procedures, and medication in some of the poorest communities across the island.

They currently have three new projects working on in Braes River, St Elizabeth. This includes the Porziuncola Farm, which is a 61-acre, certified organic farm that will provide a source of income and employment.

There is also a study centre on the farm. The centre is the responsibility of the Caribbean Youth Summit Association; and the 'Come Meet A Jamaican Village', which is a programme focused on creating jobs in the district by attracting both overseas and local visitors to participate in the festive events of the community. This project has support from the Tourism Product Development Company.
