On a night when dancehall music was the main course, the crowd at the 10th staging at Jamfest 2019 was treated to sumptuous performances from some of Jamaica’s biggest superstars.

Thousands of patrons journeyed to the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay, St James, on Sunday night for what can be described as the best of 2019 by Fit Jamfest Productions.

Showtime was at 8 o’clock, but anxious patrons arrived long before start time, in anticipation of the likes of Spice, who gave the audience more than they had bargained for.

In sync with her neon outfit, Spice’s performance was electrifying. She went old-school, and the crowd went wild. Songs such as Rampin’ Shop, which was recorded with incarcerated dancehall whiz Vybz Kartel, left the crowd wanting more. The queen delivered sweet treats and brawta, bringing on the Dumpling artiste, Stylo G, who touched down on stage in full flight.

Her second treat was even spicier, when she introduced as part of her set, Grammy Award-winnning superstars Sean Paul and Shaggy, who satisfied the audience’s appetite. Neither act had graced a Montego Bay stage in recent years, and were given the official MoBay welcome.

The ‘Up Top’ star

Home-grown artiste Teejay was greeted with fireworks, a fitting prelude to his exceptional performance. And in spite of the heavy police presence, several women jumped the barriers hoping to get closer to the ‘Up Top’ star. Teejay’s hottest songs, Up Top Boss and Owna Lane , had the patrons in frenzy.

The Brogod himself, ‘Daddy 1’, had goddesses going wild as they became the second group of women to defy security, jumping the barriers from the VIP section to get to the acts. The artiste, whose given name is Adrian Bailey, and is a member of the dancehall group, 6ixx, showed why he is one of the hottest acts in the business.

It was definitely a night of star power and the two women who showed their prowess included Shenseea, who had the crowd on the tip of their toes with her lyrics. Punctuating her act with a dance-off by four female patrons, it was a dancer by the name ‘Tuff Crackers’ who did an ‘Elephant Man’ by climbing to the top of the trussing, swinging from left to right, commandeering the audience to eat out of her hands.

The star-studded line-up engaged the audience, and a touchy-feely deejay, Masicka, was almost pulled off the stage by women whose wild abandon got the better of them.
