22-y-o teacher takes Miss Portland Festival Queen crown

Twenty-two-year-old school teacher, Sashanique Beckford, was crowned Miss Portland Festival Queen at the grand coronation show held on Saturday at the Port Antonio High School auditorium.

Wearing the sash Miss Blue Lagoon, Beckford, who faced stiff competition from nine contestants throughout the contest, received rousing applause after she was declared the winner.

Makalia Benjamin, who wore the sash Miss Folly Ruins, was the first runner-up, while Nattanya Palmer, Miss Reach Falls, was the second runner-up. A teacher at Alpha Primary School in Kingston, Beckford won the Most Active in the Community sectional prize. Palmed copped the Most Poised prize, while Benjamin was named Best Performance.

Most Congenial and Most Popular on Social Media went to Chevoneese Lindsay.
