D’Yani makes New York debut
NY:
Dancehall/reggae rising star D’Yani celebrated his first trip to New York with an exhilarating performance at Reggae on the Avenue (ROTA), held at the Bellyful Restaurant in Brooklyn on last week Sunday, the day before the official Labour Day celebrations in the US.
The event, hosted by popular MC Nuffy drew a young and enthusiastic crowd, which sang along to popular hits like Live a Little, Yardman and Feelings.
D’Yani’s next stop was the West Indian Labour Day Carnival, the largest celebration of Caribbean cultures in the world where he was a special guest on the Braata Productions float. The artiste snagged his second network TV appearance on the parade route after earning rave reviews for his performance of Live A Little at the PIX 11 TV studios in Manhattan two days earlier.
Downsound Entertainment head honcho Joe Bogdanowich and D’Yani’s manager Dwight ‘Bub’ James both expressed their pleasure at the media blitz.
“To land two network TV interviews in less than 72 hours and to deliver an engaging performance at Inkwell, a hip-hop nightclub in Manhattan is unheard of for a young dancehall artist like D’Yani. The intention of the trip was to get the brand, the face and the name D’Yani out to music fans in New York and the two million plus revellers along the parade route in Brooklyn. I think we achieved our goal,” James shared.
The NY trip came days after a brief, but much-talked-about performance at Chris Brown’s ‘Under The Influence’ concert at the National Stadium in Kingston.
D’Yani, a leader of a pack of a new wave of dancehall acts coming out of Jamaica has a number of popular songs on the airwaves in Jamaica and social media. His combination single, Feelings, done with dancehall diva, Jada Kingdom, has more than 22 million views on YouTube. Senorita done with Maestro Don has more than seven million views while Heaven Telegram has over two million views.
