Taylor Swift has reportedly reached out to the family of Ana Clara Benevides Machado, the 23-year-old fan who died at her gig at Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro during Brazil’s heatwave earlier this month.

Swift’s team is said to be secretly in contact with her grieving family.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “The truth is Taylor is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. If she makes her actions public, she’s seen as using the situation for her own gain, but if she keeps quiet, people start accusing her of being cold. Right now Twitter is awash with claims she and her team have turned a blind eye to the tragedy, but the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.”

People magazine reported last week that Weiny Machado, the father of Ana Clara, was seeking answers from the concert’s organisers.

Machado, 53, reportedly told Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo he wanted clarification on whether fans were prohibited from bringing water into the show. “I want to know if it’s true that they are prohibited from bringing water and neglected to provide assistance,” he told the outlet. “I lost my only daughter, a happy and intelligent girl.”

He added, “She was about to graduate in psychology next April, saving money. I have no words to express my pain. She left home to fulfil a dream and came back dead.”

According to Folha de S.Paulo, fans at Swift’s Sunday show in Rio claimed that they were not given any water while waiting in line for the concert.

After, Ana died Taylor, 33, took to Instagram to write, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”
