Tili, a 34-year-old local resident of the Sulawesi Island, freed a huge and deadly reptile from the motorcycle part — which was first spotted around its neck in 2016 by wildlife professionals — after a three-week mission.
Using chicken as bait and a collection of ropes, he filmed himself eventually pulling the tyre from the crocodile after two failed attempts.
In 2020, the National Resources Conservation Agency issued a cash prize for anyone who could put the poor thing out of misery, but it was scrapped after it failed to rouse any applicants.
Tili said that he was motivated to save the crocodile because he felt so sorry for him.
