He was officially welcomed by the Hon Victor Grant, minister of legal affairs, on behalf of the Government of Jamaica, the Rev. C.H.L. Gayle, president of the Jamaica Baptist Union, and Mr Hugh Levy, Liberian Consul.
Tolbert, a farmer, politician and businessman, who at present is on a Caribbean tour to meet as many Baptists in the Caribbean area as possible, was invited to Jamaica by the Jamaica Baptist Union to participate in the organisation’s annual assembly being held from February 12-18.

He will also deliver the main address at a service tomorrow morning at the East Queen Street Baptist Church, and after other official functions and visits, he will leave on Monday for Puerto Rico in continuation of his Caribbean tour.
He was accompanied by the Rev Dottson Mills, representative of the Southern Baptist Convention of the United States of America, and by assistants, the Rev Walter Jeremiah Walker, and by Mr Joseph Yor-watel.
