These Twisters are really high. The ground seems too low for them so up they go on a chair and swung with the chair twist. The occasion was the State Theatre on Sunday, April 8, 1962, during the Johnny Nash and Tom Johnson Twisters Show.

Johnny Nash's show opened with a scanty audience, but he still managed to deliver a good set with his popular hits. Nash arrived in Jamaica for the final leg of his Caribbean tour.

Nash Show Opens

The Johnny Nash show opened at the State Theatre yesterday afternoon before a very scanty house and started off fifteen minutes late with selections from Byron Lee and his Dragonaires.

This was followed by the Johnny Nash Trio, who played while the Tom Johnson Trio danced.

Then came the moment that everyone waited for, when Johnny Nash walked on to the stage and sang such numbers as Lover come back, Without a song, I’m gonna live until I die”, and ending with When the saints go marching in.

The group arrived on the island yesterday morning and were met at Palisadoes by Mr Durley MacMillan, who is promoting their show. They are on the last leg of a Caribbean Tour and have visited Barbados, Trinidad, British Guiana, Surinam, and Aruba and will return to New York when they leave here.

Arriving with the well-known singer were Arlene Hurdle, Sandy McPherson, Tom Johnson (The dancers), the band – G.T. Hogan, drums, George Joyner, bass, Arthur Jenkins, piano and his manager, Danny Sims Jnr.

The final performances will be today.
