A Japanese man got a skipping rope stuck in his bladder

Horrific scans published by doctors reveal how a two-metre thin rope, which did not have handles, became tightly coiled inside the unidentified male's bladder.

It was impossible for medics to pull it out the way it went in so they had no choice but to cut into his bladder and surgically extract the rope.

The 79-year-old man did not tell doctors why he had inserted the skipping rope but putting objects into the opening of the penis is a sexual act known as sounding. He had originally visited hospital after complaining of a painful sensation while urinating.

Academics from Dokkyo Medical University detailed the incident in a medical case report.

A British expert said it was one of the most "extreme" cases of an object being inserted into the body via the penis that he has heard of in a career spanning two decades.
