Trudeau here for two weeks

Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday afternoon on an unofficial visit. He was accompanied by his wife and two children, Justin, 3, and Sacha, one.

On his arrival in a Jetstar aircraft of the Canadian government, Mr Trudeau was met by Prime Minister Michael Manley and Mrs Manley, along with the Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica Mr John Harrington and his wife; Mr Louis Boothe, chief of protocol; Police Commissioner Basil Robinson; Brigadier Rudolph Green, chief of staff of the Jamaica Defence Force; and others.

Mr Trudeau and his family will spend two weeks at Prospect, St Mary. Before leaving, he will hold talks with the prime minister on a number of topics, and will give a press conference.

Mr Trudeau, who arrived wearing a dungaree outfit with white shoes, had a short talk with Mr Manley in the VIP lounge, which was closed to the press.

Shortly after, the Canadian prime minister and his family left the airport in a JDF plane for Prospect.
