Photo Flashback: Queen Elizabeth II visit to Jamaica, April 1975

Touring the Law School: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (left) talks with H. Aubrey Fraser, director of legal education, as she made a tour of the Norman Manley Law School at the UWI, Mona campus, after declaring it open in April 1975. Beside the Queen is Edna Manley, widow of the Rt. Excellent Norman Manley, National Hero, whose name the school now bears. Beside Mr Fraser is Sir William Douglas, chairman of the Council of Legal Educators and who is also Chief Justice of Barbados.
The Queen, escorted by Major Delroy Ormsby, the guard commander, inspects the guard of honour drawn up by the First Battalion of the Jamaica Regiment at the Norman Manley International Airport on Saturday, April 26, 1975.
At King's House on Sunday, April 27, 1975, Her Majesty the Queen and His Excellency the Governor-General descend the main stairway from the drawing room to the ballroom for the State dinner, followed by the Most Hon. Mrs Glasspole and Prince Philip, Prime Minister Michael Manley and Mrs Manley.
Her Majesty and Prince Philip, having completed the first leg of their five-day State Visit to Jamaica, embarked on the royal barge at the Victoria Pier to be taken aboard the Britannia, anchored in the Kingston Harbour. The Britannia is the home of the royal party during its visit to Jamaica.

After a royal welcome, Queen Elizabeth wasted no time in starting on her packed schedule. For five days, the Queen toured several institutions and attended multiple functions.
