Some of Britain's police officers banned from using sex workers
Metropolitan Police cops have been specifically banned from using sex workers for the first time after the issue was previously dealt with under general misconduct regulations.
Under strict new vetting guidelines for the scandal-hit force, officers must also declare all romantic relationships and any windfall of £5,000 or more.
Advice issued to forces across Britain earlier this year explained that the use of sex workers by police staff risks undermining public trust in the service.
The Metropolitan Police said: "Vetting applicants is imperative if we are to ensure the right people join us. But it is just as important our existing workforce continue to meet the high standards and levels of vetting rightly expected of them throughout their careers."
