Looking fit after his record-breaking performances on the Continent, George Rhoden arrived in Jamaica by plane on September 14, 1950, to take part in the JAAA championships at Sabina Park.

Dr. George Rhoden, winner of the 400 metres in the Olympic best-ever time of 45.9 seconds at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, is seen with his family in the Norman Manley International Airport Terminal building on May 10, 1978, as he returned home for the first time in sixteen years to be a special guest along with Dr. Arthur Wint, Herb McKenley, and Les Laing - the Helsinki Olympics gold-medal winning 1600-metre relay team – at the unveiling of the Donald Quarrie statue.
