The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tacius Golding, thanking the members of the British Parliamentary delegation for their gift of a Speaker's chair, at the January 20, 1964 special sitting of the House of Representatives called for the dual purpose of receiving the gift and of marking the 300th anniversary of the start of parliamentary government in Jamaica. In front of the speaker are the Clerk of the Legislature, Mr H.D. Carberry, and the Assistant Clerk, Mr Edley Deans. At right (in front) are the Anglican Bishop of Jamaica, Rt Rev Percival Gibson, and his Chaplain, Rev Canon R.O.C. King. Behind them are the three visiting heads of Eastern Caribbean Commonwealth countries - Dr Eric Williams of Trinidad, Dr Cheddi Jagan of British Guiana, Errol Barrow of Barbados, and other members of the delegation.
