Liberian vice-president keeps busy schedule in Jamaica
Dr William R. Tolbert, vice-president of Liberia and president of the Baptist World Alliance, maintained a packed itinerary during his visit to Jamaica. Arriving from Haiti, he was officially welcomed by government and religious leaders before engaging in discussions with Prime Minister Hugh Shearer. His schedule included a civic reception at the Ward Theatre, a reception at Jamaica House, and delivering the main address at a service at East Queen Street Baptist Church.

Vice-president of Liberia calls on prime minister
Dr William R. Tolbert, vice-president of the Republic of Liberia and president of the Baptist World Alliance, arrived in Jamaica yesterday morning from Haiti.
He was officially welcomed by the Hon Victor Grant, minister of legal affairs, on behalf of the Government of Jamaica, the Rev C. H. L. Gayle, president of the Jamaica Baptist Union, and Hugh Levy, Liberian consul.
Dr Tolbert, a farmer, politician and businessman who at present is on a Caribbean tour to meet as many Baptists in the Caribbean area as possible, was invited to Jamaica by the Jamaica Baptist Union to participate in the organisation’s annual assembly being held from February 12–- 18.
While on his first visit to Jamaica, he had talks with the Prime Minister, the Hon Hugh Shearer, yesterday morning, and was also the guest of honour at a civic reception held at the Ward Theatre by the commissioners of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation.
The prime minister will be hosting a reception in honour of Dr Tolbert at Jamaica House today at 5:30 p.m.
He will also deliver the main address at a service tomorrow morning at the East Queen Street Baptist Church and, after other official functions and visits, he will leave on Monday for Puerto Rico, in continuation of his Caribbean tour.
He was accompanied by the Rev Dottson Mills, representative of the Southern Baptist Convention of the United States of America, and by assistants, the Rev. Walter Jeremiah Walker, and Joseph Yorwatei.
