The NAHC Trade Show and Beauty Expo celebrates 20 years
Beauty supplies, hair and nail products and accessories, spa equipment, bath and body products, cosmetics institutions exhibitions, onstage demonstrations, you name it; they were all a part of the 20th celebration of the National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Trade Show and Expo (NAHC) held last Sunday and Monday at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston.
The two-day event dubbed Beauty, Finance and Healthy Living concluded last Sunday with a bang.
Doors were opened to patrons between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., which gave them an opportunity to enjoy entertainment, giveaways and informative sessions.
There were activities one after the other that kept patrons entertained and on the edge of their seats, as they tried to ensure they didn't leave empty-handed.
Patrons didn't mind waiting in lines at the demonstration booths to sample products and get their hair and nails done.
The onstage demonstration trivia, dancing, singing and social-media competitions were very entertaining and allowed patrons to walk away with gift baskets, spa equipment, body and hair products.
In the midst of the excitement, DJ Stokey from Kool 97 FM kept the vibe going with hit after hit, while there was a live performance from dancehall artiste Stacious.
The NAHC continues to live by its mission statement, 'to promote and protect the interest of practitioners in the beauty service industry and to establish and foster a quality-oriented beauty service industry. To also provide efficient, friendly and courteous service; therefore contributing to the social, cultural and economic growth of the nation'.
MAKEOVERS
More than 40 cancer survivors received makeovers courtesy of NAHC earlier this year on October 12 and 13 during this year's breast Cancer Awareness Month. The women got their hair styled, pedicure, manicure, massages and one-on-one consultancy on hair-care management while undergoing cancer treatment.
All proceeds from the trade show and expo will go towards the Jamaica Cancer Society as the NAHC said it is already looking forward to next year's makeovers and show as it promises to be bigger and better.
