Soul mates unite
WESTERN BUREAU:
Executive Chef Patrick Nolan may have made his most impressive presentation last Saturday afternoon when he exchanged vows with his soulmate, Nadia Anglin.
Patrick and Nadia, who is a statistical analyst, 'cooked' up one of the most enchanting wedding ceremonies at the fabulous Wharfhouse in Reading, St James.
With the beautiful Caribbean Sea as the backdrop, the couple chose turquoise and white, with hints of orange and silver accents as their wedding colours. Having been together for five years, the couple selected a 'love letter and wine box' ritual as the centrepiece of their ceremony.
The box contained a bottle of wine, two glasses, and two love letters describing the good qualities they recognise in each other, the reasons they fell in love, and their reasons for choosing to marry each other.
TIME CAPSULE
The letters were sealed in individual envelopes, with neither party knowing what the other had written. "You have created your very own romantic time capsule to be opened on your fifth wedding anniversary," the officiating minister, Pastor Christopher Fisher explained to the couple.
They were advised that if they, before their fifth year of marriage, should encounter seemingly insurmountable marital hardships, they should open the box, sit and drink the wine together, then separate and read the letters they wrote to each other.
"By reading these love letters, you will reflect upon the reasons you fell in love and chose to marry each other," said Pastor Fisher.
The hope is that Patrick and Nadia will not have a reason to open the box until they are celebrating their fifth anniversary.
The couple who are parents of two boys 18-month-old Pearce Nolan, and Kai Chung
selected a very intimate ceremony, attended by family members and close friends.
The bride, a member of the MBJ Airports team, was described as hardworking with a big heart. "She has been playing the role of wife in this relationship for several years," said her friend, Dr Julaine Rigg, in her toast to the bride.
Rigg stated that Patrick had exchanged vows with a phenomenal and selfless woman.
The groom also had a lot of praise thrown at him by his best man Cameron Frere who tagged him as one of a rare species, who was very supportive and noble.
Coordinated by wedding planner Karen Shields, the event could not have been more special.
