I said yes to this dress!
I said yes to that dress!
Every little girl dreams of her wedding day. At front and centre of that dream is the perfect wedding dress. There is a dress out there for every bride-to-be. Ball gown, mermaid, sheath, off-shoulder, sweetheart neckline - the shapes, styles and designs are endless. For our wedding issue, we spoke to some beautiful brides who told us why they said yes to their dress.

I wanted a dress that shows off all the hard work that I've been putting in at the gym. I had been looking for a dress for months without finding 'the one'. I shared my dilemma with Kara Anderson of Petals and Promises, and she showed me a few options, including this dress. When I saw it I jumped up and down and screamed 'this is it!'

It's the hottest dress ever! It was everything that I was looking for - mermaid style with a sweetheart neckline. Perfect.

I must admit that when I was younger, I dreamt of my wedding day. I tried hard to imagine what my dress would look like; what colour scheme I would use and what venue would be prefect. You can imagine how the list goes. So, it was funny that once I met my husband and the date was set, my fantasies changed. I knew he would love me in any dress, in any colour, on any day, which made the task so much easier. So, I approached Arlene Martin (drennaLuna) whose work I've always admired, to see if she could help me with a dress that felt like me. I
figured searching in stores for a simple, elegant dress that embodied my personality might be difficult, and our local designers are so talented, I wanted to support the cause. I used words like elegant, goddess, modest, free-spirited, charming and sexy, and she nailed it. But most of all, I let go and let God.

I decided to have my dress made because I have modelled an estimated 86 wedding dresses and I couldn't imagine finding a dress that was different from any of the ones I have worn over the years. I wanted to feel like a bride, like the dress I was wearing was for me. I had to have it made to feel that way.
I knew the effect that I wanted and it had to fit into my 'old Hollywood' theme. I sat with designer Suzanne Chin-Pen and told her what I wanted in a dress and she told me how much fabric I needed, and I got the Swarovski crystals. I gave her everything on March 3, 2016 and had
my dress by March 28 with three fittings in-between. It was perfect.

I chose my wedding dress design because I loved the idea of a nice, snug-fitting dress and I absolutely love lace, so I had to have lace on my dress. I worked with House of Clay and it came out beautifully!

I chose my dress because of the colour and it stood out. I did not want a typical white dress. As I stepped into the bridal store I just knew it was my dress.
