Omar Mateen shot to the top of the trending list last week after killing 49 patrons at Pulse nightclub. Pledging allegiance to ISIS before shooting indiscriminately, Mateen was said to be cool and calm. Those who lived to tell the tale spoke of how he prowled the nightclub seeking to assure the death of his prey. He was taken down after a three-hour stand-off with law enforcement. RIP to all the victims and condolences to their families. #PrayForOrlando

Singer killed at concert

The curtain was closed on a rising star last week as former 'Voice' contestant Christina Grimmie died after a concert in Florida. The 22-year-old was shot as she interacted with her fans. The shooter committed suicide after a brief struggle with the singer's brother. What a grim moment for the family of this young star. Fortunately, her mentor, Adam Levine, has opted to pay for her funeral expenses. RIP,

Rainbow flag scandal

Jamaica's Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte came to the forefront last week after expressing her condolences to the victims of the Orlando shooting, while in the next sentence declaring that she thought the rainbow flag flown at half mast at the United States Embassy in Kingston showed disrespect to Jamaican laws.

The US Embassy shot back and social-media pundits went into a frenzy. Guess she really got a taste the 'Rainbow'.

Gator attack

Florida was in for a third shock when a two-year-old was snatched by a gator at a Disney Resort. His father tried to rescue his son but to no avail. The following day, rescue teams recovered the child's body intact. #RIPLaneGraves

Ashton Kutcher and girlfriend Mila Kunis have announced that they are expecting baby number two - a sibling for their daughter, Wyatt Isabelle.

Taylor moving on?

Rumours are circulating that Taylor Swift has (already) moved on from her split with Calvin Harris and is dating The Night Manager actor Tom Hiddleston. Social media went into overdrive as a picture surfaced apparently shower the two kissing. After, the delete buttons went into overdrive and both Swift and Harris have deleted each other's pictures from their Instagram accounts. Guess the break-up is no longer amicable.
