WIE inspires through film
To kick-start the Women in Energy (WIE) season, the Jamaica Public Service invited professional women and their mentees to a night of inspiration, passion and courage from the film Hidden Figures at the Palace Cineplex, last Wednesday night.
In their theme of doing power differently, WIE hosted a private viewing of a movie they believed would resonate in the minds of their guests and encourage togetherness among women.
Hidden Figures is the incredible life stories of three hidden women who changed the game and showed that the power of unity and commitment can break barriers.
Director of Corporate Communications Winsome Callum shares with Flair that Hidden Figures was chosen because of the many lessons that could be learnt from the lives of these women.
"The movie highlighted how working hard, breaking barriers, changing protocol and fighting through obstacles can change the world. It taught us that women should work together to achieve a common goal. Together or not at all," she expressed.
The movie was one like no other as the audience fought through a number of emotions. You could hear moments of mystery, terror, laughter and pride. While some were vocal with their thoughts, others held on to their seat as the movie took them on a roller coaster. All in all, guests enjoyed every aspect of the movie.
