Here's the scoop! New Devon House ice cream parlour opens at Sovereign North

When you think of Devon House, you think of ice cream at its best. The best place in the world to have ice cream is taking it up a notch while remaining true to its niche. It is taking you back to Saturday afternoon at the ice cream parlour, catching up with friends over delicious ice cream cones with a new location at Sovereign North, Barbican, opened about a month ago.

When you enter the cosy new location, it is reminiscent of the parlours you see in movies, where teens go to get away from their parents. The location also has something for the tots - a wall dedicated to their art.

"We give them paper and crayons to colour, so that they have something to do and enjoy. When they are done, they are displayed on their special wall. They are overjoyed when they return and see their work on the wall," explains store manager Charmaine Elliott.

Then there is the one thing that everyone is in love with Devon House for - the ice cream. Though the summer is coming to a close, there is no specific season to have ice cream. It's great any time of day, all throughout the year.

"We have not officially launched, but we already have repeat customers," Elliott told Food. She notes that the staff have even come to know some of their customers.

Like the original location, their best day is Sunday. This is when parents come out with their children, a trend she does not believe will change.

But the Sovereign North location will be serving up more than just 'regular' ice cream. The operators are planning to install a granite cold stone slab for them to mix their topping into the ice cream. They plan to mix candies, sweet treats and fruits - not the kind you get in a tin, but seasonal fresh fruits.

They still serve favourites such as strawberry banana smoothie, java whip, banana-split sundaes, and brownie sundaes, which customers just can't seem to get enough of.

If you are not an ice cream lover, you are not to feel left out at this sweet treat paradise. They also offer a variety of pastries, which include a mouth-watering Oreo cheesecake and a chocolate cake that is sinfully delicious and will have you salivating just by looking at it.

So have a cone on us at the new location. The opening hours are Monday to Thursdays, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Friday to Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 11p.m. This time also applies to public holidays.
