Port Royal Seafood Fest to thrill taste buds on Heroes Day

The Port Royal Grace Tropical Rhythms Seafood Festival was launched last Thursday at the Naval Hospital in Port Royal. The cultural food festival is a cook-off that attracts and engages sponsors, seafood specialists and representatives from corporate Jamaica to show off their culinary skills, which will incorporate lots of giveaways.
Whetting the appetites of the seafood lovers were the brands Excelsior, Kendal and Grace Tropical Rhythms, paving the way for the Heroes Day family event scheduled for October 20, starting at 11 a.m. Some of the treats were Grace's rich tasty fish tea soup, alongside the colourful flavours of Tropical Rhythms.
The Excelsior brand representatives took pleasure in serving salt fish with cinnamon water crackers and distributed goodie bags with their products.
Meanwhile, the Kendal brand provided their mouth-watering fish cake and bammy sticks with spicy guava sauce.
The historical venue comes alive next Monday and promises to be the best family Heroes Day event of the year - complemented with performances by Beenie Man, KipRich, Beres Hammond, and Busy Signal, among other local artistes. Attractions include Fun Bingo and a DJ face-off, which are new to the popular event, including 'mixology' and a celebrity cook-off.
Event organiser Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small told Food she was excited about this year's festival and said that the venue is just right for the annual event.
"Port Royal is the brand. It has been for 11 years. It was started by Minister Phillip Paulwell, then was taken over by Jenny Jenny's Production. It is to keep history alive. We are very very happy that we are able to survive, and it's a pleasure, so it's always Port Royal," she said excitedly.
