More than Jus' Cupcakes

Four years ago, after watching an episode of the popular TV series Cupcake Wars, Tamara Malcolm remembered the words of her mother, "It's always good to have another skill." This inspired her to start baking.

Excited by the sweet prospects, Malcolm went on an online shopping spree for the necessary tools and soon after started baking the hard to resist treats - Jus' Cupcakes.

Under the slogan, 'If you like it in a cake we'll do it in a cupcake', Malcolm seeks to be original. "In making Jamaica and the world know that a cupcake can be more than plain, but exceptional, we make it' jus' perfect, jus' delicious, jus' everything you need in one bite, because it's really about originality and exceptional taste," Malcolm told Food.

Not limited to cupcakes, the practising attorney and part-time lecturer, makes cakes of all kinds - special, frosted, wedding. "I don't limit myself because my training wasn't limited. The business was 'Jus' Cupcakes' because everyone was doing cakes at the time, and the cupcake market I thought, needed an edge or change, and I challenged myself to what I thought cupcakes were capable of. After all they are just mini cakes and so much more individualised," states Malcolm.

Having worked with large corporate companies, birthdays, baby showers, office parties and weddings.

With a vision to create a cupcake shop with a twist, Malcolm is confident that her future business endeavours will be successful: "Every year, I appreciate my growth as an entrepreneur and a person. With my intention to, and confidence that I can keep delivering exceptional services and presentation, the sky's the limit really, because I can see the potential and that excites and motivates me!"

Malcolm currently offers over 30 flavours.
