Burke dismisses Hanna's assertions about PNP's loss in Moneague

People's National Party (PNP) general secretary Paul Burke has dismissed assertions by the St Ann South East MP Lisa Hanna’s allegations that the party lost the Moneague Division in South East St. Ann because the leadership ignored tensions among Comrades in that division.

Addressing the PNP’s loss of the division in her constituency, Hanna today said on Nationwide 90 FM that she had warned Burke and PNP president, Portia Simpson Miller, that the Moneague division could be lost to the JLP if resentment among comrades was not addressed.

Hanna says her requests were repeatedly ignored by the party leaders.

Responding to Hanna’s comments today, Burke admitted that the secretariat was aware of tensions among party supporters in Moneague, but he said it did its best to resolve the issues before the local government polls.

The PNP's Lloyd Garrick polled 777 votes to lose the Moneague to the JLP's Delroy Williams (805).

The independent candidate Vernon Williams who is a former PNP member polled 787 votes.
