Asif Ahmad appointed British High Commissioner to Jamaica

Long time diplomat Asif Ahmad has been appointed the new British High Commissioner to Jamaica.
He will replace David Fitton.

Ahmad will take office in August.
Here are five things you should know about the new British High Commissioner to Jamaica:
1. Ahmad had a 20-year career in banking before he became a diplomat
2. His current assignment is Manila, where he is the British Ambassador
3. Ahmad has also worked in Bangkok as an ambassador
4. From 2002 to 2004, Ahmad was head of the Commonwealth Co-ordination Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
5. He also worked as Head of the Communication and Information Centre in the Prime Minister’s Office.
