Smacks of envy... Holness hits back at Bunting over colonial-type description of Clarke
Jamaica Labour Party Leader Andrew Holness has rejected comments by Opposition member Peter Bunting about Dr Nigel Clarke, the winning candidate in Monday's by-election.
Dr Clarke retained the seat for the Jamaica Labour Party in yesterday's by-election against the People's National Party's Keisha Hayle.

Before the election, referencing Dr Clarke’s educational background, Bunting had likened him colonial masters.

Speaking at a celebratory rally following Clarke’s victory last evening, Holness said the comments by Bunting smack of envy.
Holness said political representatives should give Jamaicans something to aspire to.
Yesterday, JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang also condemned Bunting's statements.
Chang said the comments could be considered classist and elitist; insinuating that hardworking Jamaicans who better themselves, become educated and enjoy social mobility; are to be frowned upon and judged.
Clarke is an economist, entrepreneur and businessman.
