Massive gun find at Wharf

Yesterday’s arms seizure included four high-powered rifles, one submachine gun, nine pistols, six revolvers and 791 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Law-enforcement officials are tight-lipped about the details surrounding a massive gun and ammunition find at one of the country’s ports.

Yesterday, 20 firearms and nearly 800 rounds of ammunition were seized at a terminal in Kingston.

Four rifles, one submachine firearm, 15 handguns and assorted ammunition were yesterday intercepted at the wharf during a joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch and the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs.

The seizure, which occurred about 10 a.m., included four high-powered rifles, one submachine gun, nine pistols, six revolvers and 791 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Police say the shipment originated in the United States, but did not share any more specifics.

No one has been arrested in relation to the find.
