Grief at Clan Carthy after deadly truck crash
Trauma counsellors are now visiting the Clan Carthy Primary School in Kingston following the tragic death of a seven-year-old student in a truck crash yesterday afternoon.
There was raw grief this morning as parents, politician and other people turned out to support the grieving school.
Students and teachers broke down in tears.
Little Benjamin Bair died after an unmanned garbage crashed into a taxi then overturned on him.
The Education Ministry says education officers will lead counselling sessions for the principal, vice principal, other staff members and students left traumatised by the incident.
Minister without Portfolio in the Education Ministry Karl Samuda has described the incident as one of unspeakable horror.
He is urging motorists to exercise special care and precaution in the vicinity of educational institutions.
The truck was on the school compound to pick up garbage when it moved off without any one inside then crashed resulting in the death of the grade-two student.
Samuda as well as Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips and St Andrew South East MP Julian Robinson were among the elected representatives who attended the school this morning.
