Barbados will impose nightly curfews on the island as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.

In a national broadcast on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Mia Mottley said that her government intended to go to Parliament to amend the Emergency Management Act to allow for the restriction.

It will run from 8 p.m to 6 a.m., starting on Saturday, March 28, until Tuesday, April 14.

However, she said that critical government departments and essential services would be allowed to operate.

In the meantime, Mottley is reporting that the number of coronavirus cases in Barbados has jumped from 18 to 24.
