Court places gag order on Asafa, Amita in child maintenance case
The Kingston and St Andrew family court has placed a gag order on both parties in the ongoing child maintenance case involving sprinter Asafa Powell and Amita Persaud-Webb.
The Gleaner understands that the pair appeared in court for the first time today.
Persaud-Webb, represented by attorney Michelle Thomas of Michelle Thomas and Associates, is seeking $40,000 per month in child maintenance.
The pair share a seven-year-old child.
The Gleaner gathered that the new ask is an increase on the $25,000 per month arrangement that was previously in place.
In court, Thursday, Powell through his attorney, Annaliesa Lindsay, requested a paternity test, which is now pending.
The parties are to return to court on October 9.
Last year, the sprinter wed Canadian model Alyshia Miller.
