Westmoreland man charged with robbery, firearm possession
A Westmoreland man who reportedly held up patrons at a bar and robbed them at gunpoint last month has now been charged by detectives.
The man, 23-year-old Lensurd Rattray of Lewis Street, Savanna-la-mar in the parish was picked up during an operation on July 17 one day after the robbery.
He has been charged with robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of a firearm.
The police say about 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 16, Rattray and another man held up patrons at a bar in Galloway district in Whithorn, Westmoreland and robbed them of $40,000 cash, liquor and phone cards.
Rattray and his accomplice reportedly escaped on a motorcycle.
His court date is being finalised.
