An alleged player in a suspected phone-stealing ring, which was recently discovered and more than 200 devices recovered, will be seeking bail when he next appears before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on November 18.

Shaunie Latchman, who was nabbed on October 5, is charged with unlawful possession of property.

On Friday, when Latchman appeared in court, his lawyer, CJ Mitchell, informed the judge that he plans to make a bail application on the said date.

The suspected phone-stealing ring was uncovered by police while investigating the alleged theft of a phone from a victim in St Catherine on October 4.

Tracking technology led investigators to a house in Tavares Gardens, St Andrew.

During a snap raid, some 200 phones, nine laptops, 11 tablets, an undisclosed number of ATM cards, six television sets and lead sheets were reportedly found.

One of the cellular phones has since been identified by its owner as being stolen from him in the Cross Roads area in August.

Following the seizure, Latchman was taken into custody and later charged.

But the accused is claiming ownership of the phones.

On his first appearance in court early last month, Latchman proclaimed that he was a phone repairman, who buys and sells cellular phones.

He also claimed that he worked at a phone shop and could prove where he had bought the phones.
