Proud of boys' strides in GSAT
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Congratulations to all the students who sat this year's GSAT, and those who passed for schools of their choice. To those who didn't secure a place in a preferred school, I encourage you that this is not the end, but a new beginning.
I know the prime minister, the education ministry and all Jamaicans must feel proud to see how the nation's boys performed well. I believe this was a result of the improved work at the early-childhood level, whose benefits have trickled through to the primary schools.
Let us all face reality that early-childhood education is the starting line and university the finishing line, so all these institutions must be commended for the educational training they give to youth.
I must single out St Catherine Basic School in Spanish Town, from which bright children transition to primary schools, especially St Catherine Primary, having averaged in the 90s.
