Pay for performance

THE EDITOR, Sir:
This is why I firmly believe that teachers should be paid based on their performance. Then we would not be having a debate on the issue of a teacher strike over wages.
Too many of our kids are way behind class average, making it all the way to grade six and not being able to construct a proper sentence. We need more teachers with a passion for teaching.
