Sewage overflow haunts Duckenfield homes

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I have been trying to get to the media for some time now about this deplorable condition in which we are living at Duckenfield, St Thomas.

The Hampton Court houses to which we are to relocate have been completed for some time now and we are still unable to move as they keep coming up with so many excuses.

The conditions at our present home are making too many persons ill. Sewage is overflowing in our backyard all the way to some persons' front door and we have to be seeking ashes from the sugar factory to throw in the yards in order to go to the bathroom. When the rain falls, it is even worse. Public-health officials have visited numerous times, and even they said they wouldn't live here.

We are seeking the media's help, as we are worried about our children's health, as well as our own. We would like for the media to visit and see first-hand the state in which we are living.
