Expand driver education to curb crashes

THE EDITOR, Sir:
As a driving instructor and an instructor trainer, I have noticed the lack of driver education in Jamaica, which is causing too many road accidents.
We need to address the licensing process and ensure that only those that have passed a certified driving process are entitled to receive a licence. I believe that this could be introduced into schools by demonstrating, from an early stage, that good driving is not about speed.
Also improvements to roads, signage, and better vehicle-safety checks would all help to reduce traffic accidents. I would be happy to help the Jamaican Government with this if required in any format.
