Bible not dangerous, people are

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This is an open letter to Michael Abrahams.

Is the Bible a dangerous book?

Well, it is a human book, or a group of books written by men who had their own beliefs about some power or force that they saw greater than themselves.

Does it make the Bible dangerous, then? This depends on who uses it and how it is used. Sadly, the Bible has mostly been used for bad.

Now, the divine status that is given to the Bible should not come as any surprise to those of us who have studied other 'holy' or 'sacred' books like the Torah, the Vedas, the Qur'an, etc. These books also are said to be authored by God and should not be tampered with.

So the Bible, per se, is not a dangerous book, but it is a book that has been dangerously misrepresented and interpreted.
