Schoolgirls a huge distraction to boys

THE EDITOR, Sir:
Regarding Peter Espeut's article ('Schools biased against boys') of July 13, 2018, I attended an all-boys Catholic school in Antigua from grades six to 12. This school outperformed every girls-only school on that island for many many years. This includes Catholic girls' high schools as well with similar resources and demographics.
My wife, who is Jamaican, gets annoyed when I say this, but girls are a huge distraction to the boys at that age. Those boys will always underperform when compared to boys of the boys-only schools.This is clear as daylight to anyone who wants to look. Probably the link between male school underperformance and criminality is lost on some of the authorities.
