Saluting Annan, thinker and humanitarian

THE EDITOR, Sir:
In a world where incivility and indiscretion pollute politics and international relations, Kofi Annan was the embodiment of urbanity, gentlemanliness and gentillesse.
A Ghanaian intellectual and universal scholar, the global village mourns the loss of a father and a brother who understood, in a searching yet judicious way, the psyche, heart, spirit and soul of its inhabitants.
He may not have given us a cure for our fevered lives, but his prescription of restraint, equilibrium and comity gives humanity a healing sense that the world is better for his mortal life.
A quiet voice, I now hear him audibly in the sanctum of my memory.
